What is Metamask Snaps?

MetaMask Snaps is an initiative that allows third-party developers to add features and functionality to extend MetaMask. It’s been a significant development in the crypto ecosystem, with many projects launching their own Snaps.

What is an Account Snap?

Account Snaps are a specific category of Snaps that exist within the MetaMask extension. They extend and change the way accounts are managed in MetaMask and can be directly accessed in the “Accounts” tab in the extension.

The Capsule Account Snap

The Capsule Account Snap allows you to use Capsule MPC (Multi-Party Computation) anywhere you can use MetaMask. This integration brings several benefits:

Easy Setup

Set up a wallet with just an email and sign transactions using FaceID or TouchID

Wallet Recovery

Recover wallets easily if you lose access to your device

Familiar Interface

Experience crypto through the MetaMask interface you’re already familiar with

Full Functionality

Explore apps and tokens, buy, sell, stake, swap, and bridge assets

Supported Networks and Tokens

The Capsule Snap supports a wide range of networks and tokens:

  • All EVM networks supported by Infura
  • Chains leveraging the cosmos-sdk
  • Any ECDSA chain

This broad support allows you to transact as you normally would with MetaMask across various blockchain ecosystems.

Security and Privacy

Capsule takes security and privacy seriously:

  • The Capsule Metamask Snap has been successfully audited by Least Authority, a top audit firm.
  • Audit reports are available for Snaps and Capsule MPC.
  • Emails are used to identify accounts and facilitate account recovery, and are kept private.
  • The Snap creates a new Capsule-powered account in MetaMask and does not directly access existing MetaMask accounts.

Always be cautious with sensitive information. Capsule will never ask for your private key or seed phrase, and Capsule Support will never proactively contact you asking for private information.
